Update on Library services
Thursday, 12 January 2017
The target date for the re-opening of all of the Kelburn Library is 20 February 2017. We will keep you informed if there is any change to this anticipated timeframe.
Please note that from Monday 16 January 2017, all other campus libraries and services are open from 8.00am – midnight Monday to Friday, and 10.00am – 10.00pm Saturday and Sunday. The Library’s electronic resources and digitised collections are always available.
Access to the Kelburn Library physical collections
The collections located in the Reading Room on level 3 of the Library are open (location ranges DU421 – E908.3) and this area also has the course reserves, holds pick-up and recently returned items.
Interlibrary loan requests can be collected from the level 2 service point as usual.
Access remains closed to the rest of the Kelburn Library and its collections. This includes audio-visual resources in the Glass Room and the JC Beaglehole Room Special Collection. You can search and find information using Te Waharoa as usual. If items are unavailable alternative options such as interlibrary loan are available. Please contact us about your needs if items are unavailable and you would like to discuss options.
Items can be returned at any campus library, including Kelburn
Victoria Info Ihonui staff are available on-site as your source of helpful information. All other services at Kelburn are operating and available during the usual hours although there is an impact on the availability of printers and student computers at Kelburn Library. Cyber commons in Kirk and Murphy continue to be available for student use. Requests to the JC Beaglehole Room will be monitored and alternative solutions found where possible, or the request will be processed once the archive is open again.
These Kelburn campus spaces are available for study while the Kelburn Library is closed:
- von Zedlitz (VZ) Building: VZ506 (seminar room) and VZ510 (seminar room) – Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5.00pm for quiet study only.
- Kirk Building (KK), KK217 (cyber commons) – 24/7 access for students
The Reading Room (level 3 of the Hub) is also available as a study space.
Thank you for your patience and support and please contact us if you have any further questions.
