Can I renew a Borrow Direct item?

You can renew a Borrow Direct item up to two times, unless it is recalled. You must make renewal requests through the Library Catalogue. Library desk staff are not able to renew Borrow Direct items for you.

How do I make a Borrow Direct request?

Borrow Direct requests must be made through the Library Catalogue. Please consult the Borrow Direct instructions in the catalogue online help.

How do I pay my Borrow Direct fines?

You must contact the library from which the item was obtained and pay your fines directly to them. The following pages have contact information:

What are the fines for overdue Borrow Direct items?

Overdue Borrow Direct items are charged at 50c per day, or $3.00 per day if they have been recalled.

Fines for Borrow Direct items must be paid directly to the lending library. Victoria University Library staff cannot accept or process Borrow Direct fine payments. Please see “How do I pay my Borrow Direct fines?” for more information.

What can I borrow using Borrow Direct?

Borrow Direct is available for most books and similar items at our partner libraries. Items that are reference only, on course reserve at their home library, or part of a special collection generally cannot be borrowed; you cannot borrow individual articles or chapters.

Only items which say “Available” or “Just Returned” are available for borrowing.

You can have a maximum of 15 Borrow Direct requests submitted at any one time.

You may borrow no more than 5 items from each of our partner libraries—15 in total—at any one time.
